Elin Hernlund, DVM, PhD, Diplomate ECVSMR, is a veterinarian specialising in equine biomechanics and orthopaedics. She is the head of the Locomotion laboratory at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and one of two founders of Sleip. Elin is passionate about motion in horses both at work and in her private life (where dressage training takes up most of her time).
Overview
Title: Biomechanics behind motion analysis
Presenter: Elin Hernlund, DVM, PhD, Co-founder at Sleip
Date: Thursday, April 27th, 2023
Time: 18:00 CET I 12:00 ET
Duration: 1 hour
In 1 hour, we'll cover research behind the technology, discuss how to interpret data, talk about case studies, and of course answer your questions.

Featured presenter: Elin Hernlund
Elin has worked in clinical practice at the teaching hospital and with research since her graduation as a vet in 2008. In 2016 she defended her PhD thesis in equine biomechanics. Since then she has focused her research on AI methodology in animal motion analysis.
Elin has published more than 40 research articles and has written chapters in several scientific and popular science books about lameness assessment technology, biomechanics of body conformation and sport surfaces for equestrian sports.
Elin's life goal is to help to contribute to the development of scientifically validated tools to help horses to a longer and healthier life.

What is Sleip
Sleip combines video with precise equine biomechanic data points. The data captured and processed is displayed in user-friendly graphics directly on your phone.
Praised by vets across the globe
“The combined video and biomechanical data is very useful because it makes it easy to interpret the results”, says Marie Rhodin, DVM, DECVSMR and associate professor.

"Those that live in fear of tech replacing vets are missing the point. This is a tool to make you better. Sleip is better at seeing small things than what we are.“

"This is useful for any sport horse in any discipline, as all can be susceptible to a higher risk of injury from training and/or competition."

”Sleip is an unparalleled complement to my subjective lameness evaluation of a patient. In addition, the Sleip Recorder facilitates my client interaction to optimize rehabilitation”
